If you follow our blog very closely, you’ll know that last month we did some globe-trekking; and one of our stops was Sweden. Talk about a magical country! We drove hundreds of miles during our stay there, and got to experience quite a bit of the incredible countryside. Much of Sweden is covered by forests and farmland, speckled with their signature red homes. It’s really nothing short of relaxation and charm! We absolutely loved it. (And will be sharing more of our own personal photos from the trip soon … … …)
On one of our last days in Sweden, Jayden + I hopped in the car and took a three hour drive north of Stockholm, to an area called Leksand, and photographed the home of Ylva (IEL-vah) + Daniel (the Sting lookalike) Skarp for Rue Magazine. Their home may quite honestly be the most incredible living space we have ever set foot! An old schoolhouse, turned toy soldier museum, turned dream home, there wasn’t a detail that had been ignored. And don’t even get me started on Ylva’s hospitality! As complete strangers walking into her home, she welcomed us with a delicious meal (which happened to be served on plates that featured her own calligraphy work), and then insisted that we take frequent fika breaks. Don’t tell anyone, but sometimes our ‘work’ hardly feels like work, if you know what I mean …
The Travel Issue of Rue went live yesterday, so make sure you check out the entire issue here! That said, we wanted to share the tear sheets from Rue here on our blog, along with a few extra shots that didn’t quite make the magazine. While you’re entranced by Ylva’s work, make sure to check out her online store. We are honored to have one of her poetry mobiles on display in our home now, which is a constant reminder of our fabulous adventures in Sweden, and of our new friends the Skarps! xo
