Liz + Jeff are honestly the nicest people we have ever met. And since ‘nice’ is one of the greatest compliments Liz can ever give, we hope they grasp the weight of our statement!
I met Liz’s daughter {Christina} when we were 2, and we grew up being amazingly close friends. Our families both have summer homes in Michigan, and so we spent our summers tanning on the beach by day, and working in an ice cream parlor by night. Liz was always the most kind, patient and loving mom. She has such a gentle spirit – I don’t think I’ve ever seen her get angry in the 20+ years I’ve known her!
So, when Liz told us she had met Jeff, and he was, “the nicest man she had ever met” … we knew this was serious. We got to meet Jeff a few times, and even played Scrabble with him [our guilty pleasure, and something I credit Liz for introducing me to!]. Then, the engagement came, and we were all just thrilled! When they asked us to photograph their super intimate wedding with only immediate family, we felt pretty darn spesh. No really, I could name a list of people that were insanely jealous of us.
The couple exchanged vows on a beach on a Sunday morning at 8am. There were a few guests that were not enthusiastic about the start time … but we were not on that list! When my alarm went off at 6am, I looked out the window, and it was pouring. “Oh no!” I texted Liz telling her that we would be happy to take their portraits later in the day, should the weather clear up, if that would make her happier … but they just decided to go for it! As that caravan headed to the beach, the skies went blue, and the rain stopped.. holiday miracle!! The wind was still mighty present, but that just added a bit of extra personality to their day.
Liz wore a gown by J Crew, which was simply divine, and the couple was surrounded by their children as they said their vows. What could be better?! After some photos, there was a fabulous brunch reception at the lovely Soé Cafe in Sawyer {Michigan}.
It was really all too perfect for words, and we couldn’t have been more excited to be a part of your day, Liz + Jeff! Thanks again, so very much, for asking us. We are over the moon with excitement that you have found each other, and we sure do hope you’re up for a few ’rounds of Scrabble come Summer ’11!
And now, enjoy some of our faves.. xx
Here’s one of Christina with her beau, Joe 🙂
My favorite of the day.. 🙂
Hope everyone had a fantastic week-end, and that those in the Midwest stayed safe + warm!
Cheers!
Still waiting for the summer ’11 Scrabble game; you are the busy bee, Caroline, but I think this may be our week. Thank you for the great photos, Caroline & Jayden–super nice.
